The journey of becoming a TIS…it's difficult to reflect on the journey itself because it hasn't been an isolated event. It’s been a kaleidoscope of experiences merging within the past year to create an ever-changing landscape of learning and living. I’ve walked the pathway of the TIS student including hours at the keyboard and integrating lessons into my classroom and suddenly a bend in the road occurred and I'd find myself cooking dinner or painting the house. This phenomenon bothered me at first; shouldn't I be able to focus on this journey alone before bounding off on another adventure? Then I realized it could be no other way. Life isn't compartmentalized. Many things are happening simultaneously and multitasking is a necessity.
So my journey has happened in the midst of library books and technology inventories, dishes and laundry, laughter and tears. The rewards have come at unexpected times. Just last week, I was talking to a fellow teacher friend who mentioned wanting to create an electronic portfolio. I pulled on my TIS hat, threw off my coffee sharing friendship hat and walked her through the process. I confess that we did pour ourselves an extra cup of Java while we were in cyberspace. Such is the nature of the journey.
Found a great use of a fellow TIS's tool for a librarian. She used Padlet to have an interactive board for favorite library memories. Take a peek:
