I have never been much of a listener....I like to actually look at words on a white sheet of paper or on my iPad screen, but sometimes life makes it impossible to have a book in your hands at all times. Thus the beauty of the Podcast...a virtual library of information for the person on the go! There are several ways to find podcasts on your computer or iPad. I downloaded the Podcast app on my iPad and instantly had access to tons of titles and at a swipe. You can also access iTunes podcasts by opening iTunes on your computer, clicking on the ITunes Store link in the top right corner and then choosing "Podcasts." The categories are endless! I found an interesting podcast called the "Daily Knowledge Podcast" by TodayIFoundOut.com. You can access the link below, but this little gem provides you with interesting and perhaps rather useless information on a daily basis. Most of the podcasts in this series last between 7 and 12 minutes, just long enough for a car ride or getting ready for work in the morning.
Podcasts are not only excellent ways to expand your knowledge, learn a new skill, or keep up on the gossip of your favorite t.v. show, they are effective professional development tools for teachers. You can learn how to use the latest technology, become more productive in the classroom or explore Common Core in the classroom. I may even add some pertinent podcasts to my technology resource webpage so teachers can quickly access information that is important for them. Until then....keep listening!
