What is E-Rate and How Does it Apply to Internet Safety Curriculum?
E-rate is a program offered through the federal government where schools can receive Internet communications and access at a discounted rate provided school provide Internet Safety Training for each student in our schools as dictated by the Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA). We used to document this training through the TechSteps platform; however, Harrison County Schools are now providing this training through the web-based Common Sense Media curriculum and documenting progress through WVEIS. Each grade level is responsible for deciding how the curriculum will be taught to students, and team leaders will document completion through the WVEIS platform. Each grade level has two Internet safety lessons that include videos, discussion questions, activities and quizzes. See the links below to access the curriculum online.
